bump...I am curious about the Al Merrick board also...anyone?

paddlesurf.net

I've seen one up close at Sacred Craft Board Show from last year and talked to and watched a guy surf one at not-so-good Dogpatch this summer.

It may have been that the guy wasn't such a hot SUP rider or that the conditions weren't optimal, but the board didn't look like it surfed too well. It looked way too big- and that's the comment that "The Rob" made to my photographer friend about it at Cardiff Reef too.

The other board called "The Cadillac" is supposed to be pretty hot- I've got a friend who's involved in the manufacture of CIs boards and A.Merrick rides and is stoked on his Caddy. There's also an ex pro who rides a 9'0 version of the Caddy at Bolsa Chica who rips on it.

Give me a couple of weeks and I'll see if I can poach some photos of both and do a little "I spy" work for information straight from the source.

Thanks John! I hadn't seen the Caddy but went to Al's site and took a look. Me likey! Any news on that board would be great too. I am only a month in but am already looking for a board that is more surf oriented. My current board is great on flat water but not so much on the waves....sort of like a freighter.

Paddled one a year ago and surfed it as well as the waves were. Once I walked it back, it turned super easy and carves well. Not a great glide paddler but a good performance board on choice surf
