Hi Guys,
Im interested in your thought on both these boards? I have been riding a bic ace tec 10 6" and it's time to move down to something that turns a bit quicker. I weigh around 84kg and usually surf beach breaks with reasonably mellow spilling waves. i ride a longbaord when not paddling. Any thoughts would be appreciated thanks.

Stepping down from a 10'6" X 32" to the Hero (9X33, 149L) makes most sense..

If you want to push yourself go with the Converse (9X30, 142L)...

You are around 185# so there is plenty of volume

The Hero surfs better off the tail and the Converse will be a board you can walk, ride up front, middle, or back..

My first shorter performance oriented board was the Pocket Rocket..I was around you weight then...

Thanks Ralph,
How much of a difference with stability between the two when for example punching out through the white water etc?? Or in maybe a bit of chop?

You should think about the Starboard Wide Point 8'10" x 32" 140L.  Very stable for me at 220 (100 kilos) so should be a dock for you at your weight, and very fun board to surf.  I rented it in Maui.
