Just wondering how many regulars on ththe Zone are competing over in Fiji?

SUPUK (Charlie Grey) is in the surfing for GB....think it starts in a couple of hours and he is riding his own customs later on in the heats.

Anyone else in the surfing comps to look out for from the Zone?

Area 10

I was blocked from competing because they said that I would make everyone else look bad ;)

As usual, they manage to screw it up again......now Heat five and no action on the live feed. Joke!

Hope this improves....

I knew I remembered there was a thread on the Fiji comp! Tuned into the Haleiwa surfing contest (Prt 1of the Triple Crown) and then when I checked the forecast for Jersey on Surfline there it was! The ISA comp in Fiji on the cam of the day! SUP trumps prone! Waves are looking pretty spectacular at both venues but Fiji might be a notch or two better. Cool seeing Zane and Izzi tearing up those beautiful waves! I need to work on my backside paddle transfer cutties! I think I did one once!  :P

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

We have at least a few people from this area out there.  And one comes on the Zone from time to time.  Super fast sponsored paddler in this neck of the woods.  And of course Lina who did great after having a baby!  Already she was top 5 in the technical - incredible!

'SupUK'. Well done Charlie. What an experience..
It's not overhead to me!

That was an epic contest! So glad I stumbled on it. The women were in some large surf! One broken board and four leashes!

I know Caroline Angibaud from France; she took fourth, lost her best shots on some bumpy waves.  She's a great person and visits San Diego and  Ventura in fall  nearly every year for the Ventura Contest and other contests.  She was giving lessons this year in San Diego.

I surf with Tom King that came 4th all the time although I'm still a beginner, he always has time for me and tips to share. What genuine nice guy after getting the top scoring wave of the day he just couldn't pull it off in the final.
The surfing was really high quality in really tough conditions, the wind was howling and cloudbreak was big.
Everyone did amazingly well.

Wow, clean snap on a carbon board. A pretty short one at that. That wave must have been firing.

So pleased this comp ended so well....the last day was epic and final brilliant. The surfers were brilliant but I think the first and second places were bang on ....both great to watch. The winning female was also great...big respect.

Congrats to fellow Floridians, Georgio Gomez (and his little sister, Izzy) for making it all the way to the Finals... 👍😎

I think Lina did amazing for the distance race too after her long mummy hiatus. And definitely extraordinary winning the 200m sprint neck to neck against Candice.
