Here are a few vids of my 8-10 WP BC.. ...About me..   5-10 , 190 lbs , SUPing since 2007 . Where ; East Coast  South Carolina,  Surf ,1-4 ft average in clean to victory at sea conditions..
.............The board is wide and stable. especially in the chop for me. The board is set up for a quad and has center box but I ride it as a 2+1 fin set up.. I have smaller side bite 3.25 FCS flex  and a TK Flex 6.5 center fin. This fin is 1&1/8 inches off the front of the box allowing the board drives and thrusts off the bottom.. The board weighs 17.2 #'s with the deck pad.  Its shape...The boards width is forward of center making the nose look wide and making it stable standing forward of the hand insert. The tail is pulled in to a sharper round tail design. This gives it looseness  when on the tail.. Hard edge tail on bottom and relaxed rails heading up toward the nose.. I know some hate having so much width but for larger guys wanting sub 9 ft board its worth it..
..........Positives.......  Light and soooo durable ... very stable for me and with east coast chop makes surfing easy... when on waves its loose off the tail and allows drive and acceleration.. The kicked up nose allows for late take offs and drops in with confidence.  Paddling distance to breaks or flat water leisure paddling its OK for a small board. In waves with push it excels and surfs great for me.
.................Negatives........ Very expensive but well worth the price.. Paddling thru breaking waves in on coming white water  the board slows some punching thru the water, Why? Kicked up nose and volume up front. Finding a board bag that fits is limited.. Keep in shade or keep covered in sun, Carbon heats it up so you dont want to de-lam it..  I struggle getting the board moving in waves at knee high due to rocker outline, but disappears in waves of push..  ...........

Overall I love the 2012 Starboard 8-10 Wide Point Brushed Carbon. Like it better than the Silver version I had first..I now have the 8-2 WP BC and waiting for some waves as we're in a doldrum of lake Atlantic ...Hope this helps you. I would recommend getting one. The 2013's are the same no change in design..

Here is the 8-10 BC in the Red/Blue deck pad.  Notice width forward of center and pulled in tail. Round tail , hips forward .. You can see why its loose off the tail..
The green deck pad is the 8-2 WP. Same width but the nose is not as wide and width is at center of board. Traditional looking like a surf board.. There is 13 Liters less in volume from the  8-10 but just as stable. I do sit lower in the water due to my weight, Just a comparison of the two Wide Points.  Come to think of it, all 5 of Starboards Wide Points have different outlines.   ..

gjb..   thanks for the great review on the 8'10".
How much glide do you lose dropping down in size to the 8'2" vs the 8'10?

I'm sure there will be less glide on the 8-2 .. Only had three sessions on the board, two of which were small knee thigh high waves.. Just standing there on the board  and gliding across the face slow ( small waves)  but when I worked the board it accelerated keeping higher line.  (Quad).. I inserted a center box so I can do a trailer or thruster.   We will see what happens. Not all small wide boards lack glide. It all depends on rocker and how much.. Those SIMSUP's look like they will have glide. Flatter rocker and thinner rail line with a wide tail for float..
