Looking for a used board, was set on a older Javelin and a Glide, but a good deal popped up on a 2012 Coreban Alpha Race 14 in Carbon with bag for 1k.

Can anyone comment on:

1.  Durability
2.  Good weight range
3.  Speed relative to other boards

I am just doing it for fitness/fun so durability important.

Thank You.

What conditions are you paddling in? It's tippier in chop than the width would suggest.

But if durability is a major concern for you then I'd steer clear of most carbon boards. They are generally built for performance not durability, although there are some carbon-type boards which are pretty tough (e.g. the first generation Naish Glides). I don't know about the Alpha but I don't think anyone is going to call my carbon Coreban Dart durable, much as it is a fantastic board in many other ways. Was the Alpha 2012 pure carbon or carbon Kevlar? I don't remember it being particularly light.

There are a couple in service around here from 2011/12, looking a bit the worse for wear.  And they're tippy as hell unless your sub 75kg, so maybe not for you with a moniker like "cakemonster"  ;)
In theory, there should be no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is...

Good one on "cakemonster'...

I am 200lbs, so sounds like I skip it.

Thank You.
