tremendous idea, the best solution i've seen yet.  great first post, too, and welcome!  and ... yes, please, more pix would be great!

I lined up some eye dropper bottles inside a temporary box mold, filled it with epoxy and carbon fiber strands.  Once cured, the box was knocked off, the bottles ripped out, the edges sanded smooth and it was installed like you would a fin box.

After making 6 of these nesting handles, I thought maybe it was time to install one for use.  (Ya think?).  Friend, neighbor, and owner of Bluelinepaddlesurf.com Jim Brewer offered up his 9'6"  Lopez board for the surgury. After carefully peeling back the deck pad, I cut the slot in the board , epoxied in the grip, reglued the pad back down, then trimmed the pad to fit the new slot.  EASY!  I used a Fein Multimaster (suckers are expensive!) to peel off the pad.  It has alot of attachments and one is a scraper that oscillates and it just walks right thru it. The added advantages of this handle over just a slot are that it makes carrying easier, the rubber grip plugs the hole when not in use, and you can pick up your board horizontally.  Next - a retractable urthane handle that snaps into place when not in use.   That's your job!  Keep me posted.

Capt Crook  that is bitchen.  The best solution so far and I ride starboards with the hand hole.

Make sure you patent it as it may serve you well.
